The Small Business Focus Committee of the Phenix City-Russell County Chamber of Commerce has named Phenix City Spine & Joint Center the Small Business of the Year for 2008.

Phenix City Spine & Joint Center, LLC

Stephen B. Cooper, DC

The Phenix City Spine and Joint Center is a clinic dedicated to providing quality healthcare. The clinic deals with many conditions commonly associated with chiropractic such as herniated discs, migraine headaches, lower back pain, shoulder and elbow pain, tennis and golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel, TMJ, hip pain, tensor fascitas, ankle pain, sciatica, auto and work related injuries. Many people have an image that chiropractic is limited to these conditions and are not part of the medical community. Many patients who may come in for lower back problems also have digestive, circulatory, diabetic and many other issues. Nutritional counseling and a strong relationship with many of the family physicians, pediatricians, podiatrists, and orthopedic surgeons who service this area allows us to manage many conditions and arrange for a multidisciplinary approach whenever needed.

Dr. Cooper was born in Detroit, MI. He earned a bachelor’s degree while on a partial scholarship at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI and promptly married his fiancé` of 4 years, Lisa Lawrence. They then headed to Iowa where Dr. Cooper received a 4 year full academic and athletic scholarship at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA graduating with both academic and research honors. In 1992 he was selected with 15 other Doctors of Chiropractic to implement chiropractic in the military and VA. He was the first chiropractor to hold a position at Fort Benning in the Martin Army Hospital System. Dr. Cooper moved his practice to Phenix City, AL in 2006 where he practices today. He currently sits on the board of the Direct Services Corp. providing meals on wheels and other support services through Georgia counties and is part of the Alabama State Chiropractic Association’s hospital committee.

Our Clinic has participated in several health fairs for local churches and local businesses. We participate in annual seminars to further our knowledge in chiropractic so we can assure successful healthcare to our patients.  We partner with the Phenix City school district to provide students with knowledgeable information and give hope for the future.
